Fundraising update hansel concert to hit the right note
Ayr duo Ebb & Flow are holding a live virtual music performance this weekend to help raise money for leading Ayrshire charity , Hansel . The pair were originally scheduled to play at the Hansel music night at the South Beach Hotel in Troon but due to current restrictions the event had to be cancelled . Undeterred they offered to entertain Hansel customers and supporters with a selection of songs available to view live on Facebook on their own page - @ EbbandFlowDuo - and the charity ’ s - @ HanselAyrshire - on Saturday , 26th September at 3pm . Most organisations mark a special anniversary with a celebratory dinner or event , but members of the Ayrshire Association of Young Farmers Clubs decided not to take the easy option when COVID postponed their plans and set themselves a challenge that would support three local charities . In celebration of their 75th anniversary the group asked members , past and present , to consider a challenge that could be achieved over a 75-day period and raise sponsorship to benefit Hansel , Ayrshire Hospice and the Royal Highland Education Trust . And the members turned out to be fit bunch with one member taking part in a 750-mile

Irvine based Caledonian Paper , which is part of UPM Corporation , have donated a staggering 10,000 face masks to Ayrshire charity Hansel . hopes that people will be able to make a small donation whilst enjoying the concert from the comfort of their own homes . Agnes Paton , Hansel Fundraising and Communications Manager , said : “ We are so grateful to David and Paul for their fantastic support which is appreciated by everyone at Hansel during these difficult times . I would also like to thank South Beach Hotel for supplying the room the band will be playing in . “ I know how much our customers and supporters enjoy these events and how important it is for us all to feel connected to the causes that mean the most to us – there is no more powerful force for good than kindness .” Hansel is one of Ayrshire ’ s leading care
cycle , another climbing Cairn Table ten times and another cycling and walking 75 miles , as well as other events . The initial target was to raise £ 750 in total however , that was smashed and although the money is still coming in all three charities are to benefit from a minimum of £ 750 each . The challenge culminated in a celebratory streamed 75 minute live music event last weekend with a performance by Ayrshire District Chairman ,
The donation is part of UPM ’ s Biofore Share and Care programme which is involved in many causes and community projects supporting sustainable development and the prosperity and welfare of the communities in which UPM are active .
Technical Director , Gordon McLean , and Communications Co-ordinator , Liz Barrie , delivered the masks to Hansel ’ s Operations Director Roddy Wright . The masks will be used by Hansel ’ s customers when out and about in the community .
Roddy Wright said , “ We are extremely grateful to UPM for their kind gesture and community spirit during these unsettling times . Protection of our customers and staff remains paramount and we remain cautiously optimistic as we slowly reintroduce services and increase organisations supporting people and their families living with a learning disability and those with autism .
