Stewarton ' s Shooting Star !
There are big changes afoot for Emilia Faulkner , UK ' s
number one pistol shooter from Stewarton . Emilia has been selected for British Shooting ' s World Class Athletes Programme and is now a fully fledging member of the British Shooting Team .
Emilia will be heading down south to train with her fellow team-mates for the Paris 2024 Olympics and , Covid allowing , representing Scotland in the Commonwealth games in India in January 2022 .
Emilia ' s final competition prior to lock down was the Scottish Open held in Edinburgh . Emilia retained the title , not only winning gold , but also bringing home the Wilkinson sword .
This impressive sword is awarded to the highest placed Scottish competitor , male or female !
During lock down , Emilia was lucky to not only be able to train but also to compete internationally ( albeit virtually !)
As is the case for many sports , there will certainly be no further competitions this year and it is likely to be late Spring of 2021 before Emilia is back out competing again .
Emilia plans to return home to Stewarton on a regular basis or certainly as often as she can !
