Daily Strategies for BUILDING A BIBLICAL WORLDVIEW at Home
BY LEE ANN MANCINI
C hildren begin to formulate their worldview around
15 months of age, and it is solidified mainly by the time they reach age 13. Experts state that this is a time when spiritual formation begins to take place or doesn’ t. This is a short window of time that we have to connect their hearts and minds to Christ. Establishing a biblical worldview is crucial during these informative ages.
A biblical worldview is a comprehensive understanding of reality through the lens of Scripture. It’ s more than religious knowledge. It is a cohesive perspective in which God’ s Word shapes our understanding of existence, purpose, morality, relationships, and eternity. A biblical worldview acknowledges God as the Creator and our sovereign Father. God allows things to happen or ordains them according to His purpose and will. A biblical worldview acknowledges humanity’ s fallen nature, affirms Christ’ s redemptive work, and views life as meaningful because we’ re created in God’ s image with a divine purpose.
A true biblical worldview is not a compartmentalized faith that only applies in church settings. Instead, it integrates Scripture’ s truths into every area of life, influencing how we process information, make decisions, and engage within our families and our environment. It is a worldview that lasts for eternity.
WHY IS A BIBLICAL WORLDVIEW ESSENTIAL? Today’ s children are bombarded with an unprecedented number of competing worldviews. Digital media, public education, family, and friends all seek to influence the minds and hearts of our children, directly challenging the teachings of Scripture. Biblical values are often portrayed as outdated or intolerant.
Recent statistics indicate a dire need to transform how we influence and instruct our children. Seventy percent of children aged 13-14 from Christian homes reject the existence of Satan or don’ t know if he exists. Ninety percent believe there is no such thing as absolute truth, and 84 percent don’ t believe we are born into sin and need salvation. George
