We have officially been a family of 3 for almost 36 hours . Theo is sleeping right next to me , and I keep catching myself staring at him . ��

Today was a special day ! � We had a meeting with the Thai Government and were granted permanent custody of our sweet Theo !
I didn ' t expect the sadness I would feel for Theo about leaving Thailand . We will be leaving the only country and culture he has ever known . Experiencing the Thai culture has been so beautiful , and there are so many things I will miss about this amazing place !

Tell us about the excitement of receiving the call that you had been matched with a baby .
On April 3 at 2:08 p . m ., I was folding laundry when my phone rang . When I looked at my phone , I almost fainted . It was from Oregon . Our adoption agency was in Oregon , and they had told us they would only call with good news and email bad news . I immediately knew this was it ! I answered the phone and said , “ Is this the call ?” Our kind adoption program director , Jessica , laughed and said , “ It is ! We have a match for you !” I said , “ WAIT ! I need to get my husband ! He is pulling weeds in the backyard !”
I ran outside as fast as I could and waved my arms wildly to tell my husband to come inside . I ’ ll never forget the look of shock on his face as he said , “ Nuh-uh !” “ Yes ,” I mouthed as we ran back inside . Jessica then told us , “ You ’ ve been matched ! It ’ s a boy , and he is nine months old . He ’ s a healthy little guy ! Would you guys be interested in seeing his files and photos ?” We just sat there in silence and shock .
Michael was crying , and I was trying to hold in the laughter ! I couldn ’ t believe this was finally happening ! She finally broke the silence and said , “ Is that good ? Do you want us to send more info over ?” I laughed and said , “ Yes ! I ’ m so sorry ; we are so happy . We don ’ t know what to say !”
Jessica told us it would take about an hour to send over all his info , but we were so excited we couldn ’ t wait to tell our families ! We jumped in our car and drove over to my parents ’ house . I remember my mom sitting at the table eating a bowl of soup , and she almost dropped her spoon ! I was jumping up and down like I was twelve years old again . After calling Michael ’ s family in Michigan , we ran home to see if the email had come with our son ’ s information . When we opened that first photo , I will never forget it . He was the cutest little bald Thai baby I had ever seen : big , sparkling eyes and a smooth bald head . I laughed again while Michael cried . We had dreamed of this day for what seemed like forever !
