BIBLE-BASED,
CHRIST-CENTERED
RESOURCES
I don’t agree with, I don’t present it. It allows me to be a
light in the classroom, and it allows the teacher to see that
you care, that your feelers are out, and it keeps the teacher
accountable. It is important to be in the classrooms and on
field trips as much as possible.
I order Clubhouse, World, and For Girls Like You maga-
zines for my kids to read. I have separate Bible studies with
them at home. I go through different sermons, podcasts, and
books that are related to worldview. I do a lot of digging and
reading. It changes as my kids go through different subjects
and grades, but it always comes back to the Bible. We study
all these things, but they never replace the Bible. The Bible is
primary. The others are supplements.
WHAT ADVICE DO YOU HAVE FOR CHRISTIAN
PARENTS OF PUBLIC SCHOOL CHILDREN?
Be aware. Don’t stick your head in the sand. That is the
biggest thing. We need to always be in prayer, and trust God.
My encouragement is to tackle the obvious worldview
claims and look for the ones under the radar. Look through
textbooks and anything that comes home. Pay attention
to what is shown in class online which parents rarely hear
or see. I ask my daughters for the URL references, and we
look through it together. My daughters have been trained
to request a hard copy of anything that is read orally in class
that is not sent home. For example, my daughter brought
home a document called “Journey of the Blouse.” It looks
harmless, but it puts down America and highlights social-
ism. It isn’t noticeable when you look at it. I dug and found
it is from an LGBT group. You must find the source of where
the resources are coming from.
Don’t let technology create separation between you and
your children. All paperwork is stored on Google Drive
and iPads are given to children which can drive a wedge
between parents and kids. Technology has separated parents
from kids and becomes a vehicle to whittle down traditional
values and dismantle Christian views.
Parents should teach children biblical truth and foun-
dational doctrine as this will cover what our kids need to
know. We don’t know what the next cultural idea or false
teaching will be that our children will hear, but if they know
the truth, then they will be equipped to defend their faith.
Disciple your children at home, so they are full of the Word
and able to discern truth from error. ■
