Mr Robot: Mr Robot is one of the more popular TV dramas on the circuit at the moment. I say TV drama, but most people I know just stream it on their laptops. It just so happens that the show itself revolves around the exploits of the titular character, a vigilante computer hacker. So we have a show about a computer hacker being streamed onto peoples computers. It only makes sense then that some budding hacker in our real world has created a Mr Robot themed ransom ware which has been attacking unsuspecting Pc users. Ransom ware is a type of virus which encrypts files and folder on the infected PC. Victims are then required to pay a ransom to the hacker to receive the encryption keys needed to unlock their files. This particular ransom ware appears as an innocent PDF, but once unleashed it changes the desktop background to an image of MR Robot as a warning, and encrypts its selected file. Currently it is only encrypting a test folder, but it is entirely possible that the creator will tweak the code to make it a lot more malicious. In any case avoid opening unrecognized files. Can’t say I didn’t warn you. Headphones: It is common place now days to see young people walking around with a pair of headphones over their ears or around their necks. Now, most of us are aware that a good quality pair of headphones are not so easy on the pocket, and changing from a working wired pair to a wireless pair may seem like an unnecessary cost. This is the reason that a creative techie came up with a way to convert a pair of headphones from wired to wireless. With just a few hours and some borrowed tools anyone can make the conversion.
