There have been several changes to the law in Virginia related to home inspector requirements. “Licensee” means a home inspector as defined in Chapter 5 (§ 54.1-500 et seq.) of Title 54.1 of the Code of Virginia. “Licensure” means a method of regulation whereby the Commonwealth, through the issuance of a license, authorizes a person pos- sessing the character and minimum skills to engage in the practice of a profession or occu- pation that is unlawful to practice without such license. Residential Code. The minimum provisions for a report prepared by a licensed home inspector (18 VAC15-40-130) were amended to conform to Chapter 805 of the 2017 Acts of Assembly.
