• About 95% of surface water will run off
a slope of poorly draining soil.
• Interior pickup systems are sometimes
ne cessary.
• Water that gets into basements was
once on the roof of the same house.
The wise homeowner would do well to
approach a wet basement as follows:
• Most water problems in basements are
really surface water problems.
• Obtain the best diagnosis as to the
source of the water.
• The most conclusive cause of water
seepage into basements is time.
• Eliminate as many sources of surface
water as possible.
• Water problems are best dealt with
from the exterior of the house.
• Use interior pickup systems if surface
water controls fail.
• Interior brush-on products will not
stop water leakage into basements.
As always if you have any questions please
give me a call. (434) 660-3449
• Downspout controls and landscape
drainage “cure” many wet basements.
