internships put a heavy emphasis on the training aspect rather than pay. Internships allow students to determine if they have a true passion for a particular career and also help them create a network of contacts.
The intern experience is valuable to Highland students as a means of allowing us to experience how the skills learned in our pathways may be applied in the real world, and as a work opportunity that can be highly attractive to potential

Personally speaking, my past three years here at Highland have been so long, yet so short now that I ' m in my final year reflecting back on everything I was taught and have been through. My pathway choice was Graphics, and because I

While interviewing Mckenzie Houser, I discovered a different perspective of what it ' s like to be an intern from a different pathway as myself( I ' m in the Graphics Pathway, and she is in the Allied Health Pathway). When asked whether or not she enjoyed her internship she stated,“ Having been given this opportunity, I will most definitely make the best out of it and give it my best efforts. I have been able to get an in-depth, hands-on experience in my field of preference, and I intend to take the utmost advantage from this opportunity and carry it with me through college.”

apart of something.
I now know that working on something whether you like it or not, or when you have to work on multiple assignments all at once, all you have to turn to are the people you ' re working with. Even though we as a class could never come to an full agreement on anything, we always worked together as one unit, and I ' m very thankful that at the very least, I was able to learn what true teamwork and communication means to a company and why it ' s so important for an individual to possess these skills in the real world.
The experiences I gained and the work I put forth, along with my peers, would have never been done if we didn ' t put all of our differences aside and push through whatever disagreements we were having at the time. The experiences both here at Highland, and at my internship, have taught me the importance of communication in a workplace and has provided me with a passion

“ My favorite memory at Highland is when I first arrived here freshman year. It was lunch time, and I was shy because I didn’ t know a lot of people. I just sat down with people I didn’ t know. Over time, we all eventually became very close. They have become some of my best friends.”
