Stone Mountain Circuit Community Coordinator , Sharon Almon , recently established a partnership with the DeKalb Entertainment Commission ( DEC ) to cover the tuition for a DeKalb County resident under DCS supervision to attend the Production Assistant Academy . The Commission is willing to cover full cost for 1 person per session ( 4 total ), per your recommendation . To find additional information about the PA Academy ( production assistant ). Participants must be 18 years of age or older and a DeKalb resident . DEC sponsors 1 / 2 price for about 10-15 DeKalb residents ( per session ) interested in attending the academy . These classes are usually face-to-face , but due to covid , this year ’ s classes will be held virtually . The upcoming 2021 dates are :

June 5-6 August 28-29 November 13-14

Interested participants will click on the registration link , then go to the bottom of the page to DEKALB FILM SCHOLARSHIPS AVAILABLE to register . They will be asked to upload their drivers license or a utility bill to confirm residency of DeKalb County . Please feel free to push this information out to your partners and on social media . These scholarships are 1st come / 1st serve . If participants do not get the scholarship or if they do not qualify for the scholarship , they will have to pay full price to attend , but I believe it is worth it !

Community Partnerships | Let ’ s Face It , LLC

Community Coordinator Judith Fambro has created a new partnership with Let ’ s Face It , LLC . Let ' s Face It , LLC is a woman-owned company ( Tonia Carson ) and it ' s mission is dedicated to providing programs and services to families of incarceration . This new partnership brings a new opportunity to reentry services ; providing " Tiny Houses " to female supervisees . Presently , there is a waitlist and the target operational date is April 2021 . To expand on this partnership Ms . Fambro has introduced the housing staff with the operations manager , since they are looking at also providing tiny houses for males and sex offenders as well . This is a great new partnership that will provide housing for those we supervise .

Kelley Saxon , CC , Southern Circuit

Community Partnerships | Pilgrim ' s Pride Plant

Lead Community Coordinator , Kelley Saxon , created a partnership with Pilgrim ' s Pride Chicken Plant in Live Oak Florida . Applicants are being sent to apply for direct employment opportunities . Kelley has also assisted in coordinating a job fair for the local Goodwill and Pilgrim ’ s Pride . This employment opportunity also provides transportation for a weekly fee .

Robert Simmons , CC , Macon Circuit

Community Partnerships | Central Georgia Technical College

Macon DCS in partnership with Central Georgia Technical College participated in the launching of the Integrated Educational Training classes ( IET ) for those under supervision . During the three week course , students attended virtual workshops that included Financial Literacy , Personal Finance , Communication , Business Writing , and Resume Building . Certifications in CPR , Forklift and OSHA were also obtained through in person training . The first graduation was held January 29th at the college campus with six participants completing the program .
