Everything You Need to Know about Housing
We all know a common obstacle to successful reentry is the lack of stable housing . For persons under supervision , housing is a stabilizing force that provides a consistent base to access employment , treatment for mental health , or substance abuse disorders , and other support services . This session was developed and presented specifically to support our Community Supervision Officers ( CSO ) in their day-to-day need for housing . We providing an overview of the Reentry Partnership Housing ( RPH ) program , discuss eligibility and limitations , placements populations ( homelessness , mental health , and sex offender ), as well as discussed SORRB access and leveling . The training was attended by over 150 officers .
Compassion Fatigue : How to Fill Your Emotional Tank When It ’ s Empty
The work of helping requires professionals to open their hearts and minds to their clients . Unfortunately , this very process of empathy is what makes us vulnerable to being profoundly affected and even possibly impacted by our work . Therefore , as we continue our Reentry Series for 2021 , we presented a session in collaboration with the Recidivism Unit on Compassion Fatigue : How to Fill Your Emotional Tank When It ’ s Empty . You may be asking yourself , what is compassion fatigue ? Compassion Fatigue ( CF ) is a condition characterized by emotional and physical exhaustion leading to a diminished ability to empathize or feel compassion for others . We discussed during this session how to recognize the signs of compassion fatigue , how to fill your emotional tank when it is empty and learn how to recover when feeling depleted . We had an amazing session learning how to prevent and recover from Compassion Fatigue .
It ’ s Okay not to Be Okay
Earlier this year , DCS Chief Wellness Officer , Reginald Huley hosted a lunch and learn session discussing , It ’ s Okay Not to Be Okay . The class discussed empowering employees to promote and model positive attitudes and behaviors through mental health awareness and self-care during Covid-19 . Mr . Huley , spoke to nearly 40 participants and discussed what to do when you feel trapped mentally ; what is Self-care and how to practice it ; and how to practice Social Distancing without being Socially Distant .
