Rome Toy Drive for Cheerful Givers Program

During the month of December , the Rome DRC adopted two foster children through Cheerful Givers to buy Christmas presents fo . The DRC participants were able to go through a list of gifts that the children had wanted and purchase the gifts . The participants would receive 1 hour of community service for every $ 7.25 spent on gifts . They would have to provide the receipt to get credit . The total amount donated came out to right at $ 420 and participants got a combined total of 58 hours of community service . Almost every gift that was on the children ' s list was bought . The DRC participants enjoyed getting to fulfill the kid ' s Christmas requests . There were a couple of participants that donated and didn ' t have any remaining community service hours . The Rome DRC looks forward to participating in the Cheerful Givers event next year !

Valdosta Donates to Hahira Boys Ranch

The Valdosta DCS Office collected laundry detergent and cleaning supplies to donate to the Hahira Boys Ranch . Individuals on supervision were allowed to purchase items in lieu of community service hours . The project was a huge success as we collected over $ 1200 worth of detergent and cleaning supplies . The Boys Ranch was thrilled to see the amount of items donated . The individuals we supervise are always excited when given an opportunity to give back to their community . We actually started this project in March , but suspended it due to COVID and the fact cleaning supplies were hard to find . However , as we began to transition back to fully operations the individuals we supervise began to inquire as to whether or not they could still help the Boys Ranch . We had so many individuals inquire that we decided to give it a go . We are so glad we did .
