Participants also had the opportunity to create a vision board about recovery and being thankful about being in sobriety and present with family for Thanksgiving
Rome DRC Implements New Voicemail System to Prevent Relapse During the Holidays
Congratulations , DRC graduates !
Despite the COVID-19 pandemic , DCS is still fulfilling its mission and providing people opportunities for successful outcomes ! The following programs have had commencement ceremonies albeit virtually for some :
October 13 - Macon DRC ( 19 graduates ) October 15 - Houston GDRC ( 14 graduates ) October 22 - Atlanta DRC ( 23 graduates ) November 2 - Northern GDRC ( 3 graduates ) November 16 - Piedmont GDRC ( 10 graduates ) November 17 - Northwest DRC ( 33 graduates ) November 19 - Lookout Mountain DRC ( 32 graduates )
CA Brandon Henderson shared how the Rome DRC staff implemented an innovative way to keep program participants engaged and abstinent during the holidays , which pose a high risk for relapse . They created a voicemail message on the center ’ s phone for the participants who call in to find out about drug screening to encourage and remind them of the skills that they have learned to practice during the holiday season . The feedback from the participants was really encouraging , and they had only one positive screen when they tested after Thanksgiving break . Some participants came forward to say that they listened to the message several times when they were enticed by family and friends to use .
