Recidivism Reduction Unit

Ready-4-Reentry Forensic Peer Mentor Training Program
Georgia Mental Health Consumer Network ( GMHCN ) through its Ready-4-Reentry Forensic Peer Mentor Training Program recently graduated its third cohort ! They will add to the success of Georgia ’ s Forensic Peer Mentor Project , helping justice-involved peers living with behavioral health concerns remove barriers to recovery and wellness .
The perseverance of Georgia ' s Forensic Peer Mentors to give back to our communities is a true source of inspiration for those who have had the opportunity to see them in action .
Lindsey Sizemore , George Braucht , and the dedicated staff of GMHCN , Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities , Georgia Department of Corrections , and Georgia Department of Community Supervision collaborated to support this project .
Rosalyn Davis and Sherrnill Foster with the Recidivism Reduction Unit provided an agency overview as part of this virtual training .
As part of our agency ' s Employee Engagement Initiative , DCS employees consistently expressed their need for assistance in planning their careers .
Congratulations , Autumn Altamirano
Congratulations to Autumn Altamirano , Behavioral Health Counselor in the Ogeechee Judicial Circuit ! Autumn embarked on a journey to obtain a master ' s degree last year and entered a two-year program for a Master of Science in Forensic Psychology . She chose this degree in order to better serve our forensic population . She completed the “ two-year ” degree in one year rather than two , graduating with a 4.0 GPA !

Career Planning Tool

In August , a training tool was deployed that will assist DCS with learning and understanding career growth opportunities within the agency . This tool provides information on the many lateral and promotional employment opportunities , job requirements , and compensation scales for each job code within the department .
It also reviews the Performance Management Form ( PMF ) and how should be used collaboratively with supervisors and employees , in order to successfully achieve career goals .
