Each year, on the first Friday in February, millions across
the country wear red in support of the American Heart
Association’s Go Red for Women movement. Along
with associates proudly wearing red on February 1,
Providence’s first floor windows were lined with red
dresses and the fountain outside the hospital was
lit with red lights. Kristen Velez, stroke program
coordinator, Providence volunteers Cathy Kiekamp
and Evelyn Farney, and Ellen Bridger, fourth floor
director, (all pictured) provided information about
the risk factors of heart disease and how to take
action to reduce personal risk.
Our friends from KWTX came over to document our
Go Red for Women activities and then headed up to
the cath lab to visit with Dr. Charles Shoultz, III about
the importance of a healthy diet and lifestyle.
Family and friends joined
Linda Erlanson for a retirement
reception hosted January 15.
Linda dedicated 30 years of
service to our ministry as the
director of the lab.

12 • The Pulse of Providence
On February 11, physicians gathered at Carleen Bright
Arboretum for the 2013-2014 new physician wine tasting
reception. This event gave our current medical staff
physicians the opportunity to meet and get to know
our newest physicians, and help welcome them to
TEAMPROVIDENCE.
