The tradition of the Blarney Stone has many origins to include Celtic Mythology, stories from the Middle Ages, and urban myths of a witch's spell. Reguardless of which is correct, or which you choose to believe, the tradition remains a huge tourist attraction for the 1446 Castle of Blarney in Ireland.

The Blarney Stone is called the Stone of Eloquence because it is believed to give the person, kissing the stone, the "gift of gab". However, that is no easy task. After climbing the 120 steps to the top of the Blarney Castle and waiting in the long line of visitors, the "kisser" must kiss the stone while leaning backward, hanging upside down, and holdingon to the crossbars below the stone. Those with a fear of heights or vertigo may decide it is not worth the price to have eloquent speech.
