Winter Sports Preview

The winter season is here, and the winter sports are finally here. Union Catholic has high expectations in every sport and is coming prepared to face its challenges. Student athletes and their coaches shared their enthusiasm below:

Winter Track and Field

So far, the winter track team has been practicing hard to get ready for its meets and to fulfill expectations to win championships. Trae Robinson ‘16 said, “ The main plan is to work as a team and work harder since we don’t have the seniors from last year, but I know we are going to still doing well.” The girls’ team is also strong and plans on having a successful season.

Boys and Girls Basketball

With all returning players, Union Catholic's basketball team is going to have great season and is ready for any challenge. Zahir Newell ‘16 said “Our main goal for this season is to be conference champs.” With high confidence, Newell is getting ready to play well as part of the team and as an individual. Taylor Garden ‘17 spoke for the girls’ team, saying “Our goal is going to be county and conference champions and play as a good team.” She has the same mindset as the UC boys.

Boys and Girl Swimming

Bobby Sloane ’16 is looking for a good year. He thinks that the UC team this year is good and will win som many meets. Another swimmer, Tyra Lee ’16, expects the team to have a good year, as well, and is aiming for championship titles.
