As we move forward , we can only be confident : new measures have been thought out and implemented to address the technical deficiencies identified in Mauritius ’ AML / CFT framework . Further FATF inspections are underway and could result in Mauritius being removed from the blacklist in October 2021 .
The financial sector is one of the four pillars of the country ’ s economy . It represents about 13 % of GDP and employs 15,000 people . We have been doing our utmost to position ourselves as a competent jurisdiction for the past 5-7 years-and continue to do so today with the desire to be among the best international financial centres .

The Basel AML Index , which monitors money laundering and terrorist financing risks worldwide , did not include Mauritius in its list of high-risk jurisdictions in its latest ranking in July 2020 .
Its risk scores are based on data from publicly available sources such as the FATF , Transparency International , the World Bank and the World Economic Forum .
