The Professional Edition 2 March 2021 | Page 3

make a ruthless break with boredom .
We are proud of the segment that we serve , the many achievements of our members and we will continue to profile some in future publications , as we do on page 23 with Abdullah Verachia . Our regular features include a book review of Rutger Bregman ’ s Humankind : A Hopeful History on page 27 , UCook recipes on page 32 , and much more .
In closing , I want to pay tribute to so many of our members who have stepped up to the plate in these challenging times . Those who never signed up to be heroes , but who helped us navigate and overcome pandemic challenges and obstacles . The people who make lockdowns possible : frontline medical staff , laboratory professionals , those in education , in essential services , in supply chains , and more . And beyond our market segment , there are many more unsung heroes : delivery drivers , security staff , factory workers , even binmen , often in jobs low on the social ladder .
In a world with many flawed heroes and leaders , we celebrate the leadership and
example that so many are exercising in their humble day-to-day activities .
Let us find creative ways to express our gratitude – to them , to each other , to ourselves .
I trust that you will find this edition of The Professional enjoyable and value-adding .
