from Ancient Greek translates as “ love of humankind ”, not “ donating money ”. Some of life ’ s biggest yet often invisible gifts are not offerings of prosperity , but purely-intended acts of tenderness , often by people of lesser means .
Watching our world in action , I often get the feeling that humankind is more in need of this atypical form of charity than we may realise ; gifts in the form of a “ currency ” that multiplies when it is shared . A type of goodness beyond financial capital ’ s reach : Basic decency to each other and truthful concern for one another .
If we want to leave the world better off through the act of giving , we can start by offering people of lower status the dignity they so dearly are deprived of . We can show everyday kindness to those who , for most people , are “ invisible ”.
We can be sincere and respectful in our daily engagements – and so help to restore a basic belief in the decency of humankind .
My challenge to you is to consider donating more from the purse of your heart : Some of your time to uplift , sensible counsel to bring hope and inspiration to help someone carry on . Listen more , and try to understand .
One word of encouragement or one touch of kindness can turn a life around .
Let your endowments carry the blessing of selflessness and equality . Give something of yourself without expecting anything in return . There is more to achieve in life than our own success .
Self-forgetful graciousness is a universal form of worship ; consider practising it . The generosity of spirit is a capital that offers an unexplainable return . It is like ripples on the water – every gift touches many lives , unintendedly , also your own .

Dare to hand out more of these rare presents : from the coffers of your soul .

The nature of your grants and the intent with which you give will make up the essence of the real rewards you will experience in life .
Dare to hand out more of these rare presents ; from the coffers of your soul . Leave the world better off through a kind , considerate presence . Hand down your legacy in daily portions of decency . Let love be your way of being in the world .
