Our friends at Ninety One also got us involved in a project to give bicycles to school kids in disadvantaged communities . Many of these kids spend much time – an hour or more every day – walking to school and back . This will put many hours back into those kids ’ diaries to study or play . We are now one of a few businesses in South Africa that are involved in this project : the Qhubeka cycling team , Jan Braai , Avbob and Alex Forbes , to name a few .
Then , of course , the really big impact PPS makes in many young lives , is through tertiary education bursaries .
That said , giving is a budget item . Our budget can only go so far . However , our members can assist . They can make tax-deductible contributions to the PPS Foundation , to help fund those bursaries . You can scan the QR code at the bottom of page 6 if you would like to make a contribution . These contributions become especially gratifying if it becomes personal : knowing which life you are making a difference to , checking in from time to time , opportunities for mentorship , being invited to that graduation ceremony . Those are the special gifts of timeless value that we shall always treasure .
