were cut to the lowest level in almost 50 years . Everyone ’ s view on the future was as reliable as the next .
And here we are , almost seven months into 2022 . Rejuvenated global consumption is putting pressure on overall supply chains ; we have recorded around 5 % economic growth in 2021 ; the business sector brutalised , but not broken ; roads abuzz with cars again ; many office buildings still quiet , but profit announcements surprisingly positive .
Being masked has become second nature ; sanitising at every second door a ritual – even though it is not required anymore . We are Zooming , home-officing and ( hopefully ) vaccinated – off the world ’ s red lists again , not being taxed more in the latest budget , vaguely remembering the unrest of July 2021 , hearing foreign accents in our hotel foyers again and celebrating a cash-flush mining industry benefitting from soaring commodity prices . It also entails a strategy that does not make you sail too close to the wind but ensures a reliable buffer to hedge you in times of unforeseen trouble . A safety net is a lifesaver .

Do not ever try to live your life according to a forecast of the future . Rather spend your energy on building a process , personally and for your business , that is robust enough to get you through “ any future ”.

And finally , never say die . Be quick to adjust your sails when the wind changes ; make plans , reinforce hope with action and never stop trying .
We encourage you to build a life that is friendly to the unforeseen !
