In conversation with … Imbi Evenhuis

Never before have people felt so disconnected despite the numerous tools and tech we use to communicate . So , we asked PPS member and communications project manager , Imbi Evenhuis , about the importance of communication , and a little bit about herself .
What drives you personally and professionally ?
I would say that I am driven by passion – both in my personal and professional life . I am fortunate to be working in a PR and communications role , as clear and concise communication is something that I am passionate about , so it is always top of mind . From a personal perspective , I am passionate about art , décor and beautiful things . I enjoy watching art demonstration videos on YouTube . It helps stimulate my creativity on both a personal and professional level . I always strive to be the best version of myself that I can be .
Why do you think communication and marketing are important for companies ?
For me , marketing and communications represent the “ voice ” and “ personality ” of a company . How else will a company educate and inform consumers or clients directly or indirectly about their offers , products , solutions and brands ? It is used to build a dialogue and relationship with consumers / clients , which is integral to the success and survival of a company .
What is the best advert you have seen recently ?
I absolutely love Nedbank ’ s new “ see money differently ” brand adverts – they are well thought out and produced , spot-on , refreshing and spectacular which helps them break through the clutter .
What can one find on your nightstand ?
The Bible and a tissue box . I do not like clutter , so try and keep surfaces as clean and decluttered as possible .
What are your career highlights and lowlights ?
A recent career highlight was being recognised as a Nedbank Retail Business
Banking Achiever for 2020 . From a lowlight point of view , I have come to realise that no job is perfect . There are going to be those times that there are some things that I do not enjoy doing , but I just do them because it is part of what needs to be done to help contribute .
Where do you see yourself in the next five years ?
I am certain that the coming years will be productive for me . I look forward to learning new skills and improving my knowledge to advance my career . On a personal note , I am busy relocating to Pretoria ( I have been living in Johannesburg for the last 20 years ), and I am looking forward to meeting new people and enjoying my new living environment which I hope will contribute to a more relaxed and balanced lifestyle .
