that would have hindered them from obtaining their qualification , such as financial exclusion and student debt .
Understanding that some of the student community ’ s difficulties go beyond the classroom , the partnership with Rise Against Hunger , which was formed three years ago , meant that food insecurity could be addressed even during the lockdown for those who had limited access to nutritious meals .
As the global health crisis hit the world , disrupting the status quo , the PPS Foundation had to become innovative to aid students and institutions that needed to continue and complete the 2020 curriculum . Part of the work included sponsoring personal protective equipment to students working on the frontline .
For those who were looking to enter the job market in the foreseeable future , the Foundation hosted webinars where experts presented LEAP ( which stands for Learned , Engaged , Accelerated , Professionals ) work-readiness content to students . LEAP sessions were primarily conducted in-person , however , due to the pandemic and in complying with lockdown restrictions , the programme designed to equip students with skills and tools so that they are fully prepared to transition from tertiary to the workplace , was conducted virtually . No doubt , the years ahead will present their own challenges ; however , with the donations made , we can enhance programmes that are run to impact the teaching and learning experience positively .
Each year presents an apt opportunity for many others to join the ‘ nurturing potential ’ movement and enjoy its benefits , and in addition to the rewarding feeling that comes from giving , your donation may also inspire others to pay it forward .
