MUTUALITY

Swim. Bike. Run. Give.

By PPS Investments

Muscles ached. Lungs burned. Minds wavered. Every stroke through the icy waters off Robben Island, every push of the pedal over 109 gruelling kilometres, every step across the jagged trails of Cape Town’ s three most iconic peaks – took more than physical endurance. It demanded heart.

And yet, at the end of this brutal journey, something beautiful happened. A team of amateur, non-elite athletes – colleagues from PPS Investments – crossed the finish line not as individuals but as one.
They did not compete for podiums. They competed for purpose. And in doing so, they lived out the true spirit of what PPS calls Greater Mutuality – going further together, for a greater good.
MORE THAN A TRIATHLON
The Calling Cape Town Extreme Triathlon, held on 9 March 2025, was no ordinary endurance race. Participants took on an 8km swim from Robben Island, a 109km cycle past Table Mountain and beyond, and a 50km trail run across Devil’ s Peak, Table Mountain and Lion’ s Head.
But what fuelled the participants was not adrenaline – it was impact.
The event was created in support of Calling Education *, a non-profit organisation revolutionising access to quality education for learners from lowincome communities. And PPS Investments did not just sponsor the event – its people stepped into it, together.
From the first splash to the final step, this challenge became a living expression of mutual support, collective growth and shared victory.
WHAT MUTUALITY LOOKS LIKE IN MOTION

And for the PPS Investments team, that meant months of preparation, countless early mornings and enduring one of the toughest events on the calendar – for someone else’ s future.
It was seen in the quiet moments: when one runner slowed down so another could catch up. When a teammate encouraged a tired swimmer. When the finish line was crossed hand-in-hand.
That camaraderie – that shared sacrifice for a greater cause – is what makes PPS different. While PPS often speaks about shared success, the team’ s participation in Calling Cape Town showed what it looks like in action.
FUELLED BY PURPOSE
The event raised funds to support Calling Education’ s growing network of affordable, highquality schools. Founded in 2016, the organisation now operates three campuses, educating more than 600 learners with a model that delivers world-class schooling at R7 000 a year per child.
“ Calling Education has shown that innovative thinking and strong partnerships can create remarkable opportunities for young South Africans,” says Werner Cloete, CEO of Calling Academy.“ Our goal has always been to keep quality education affordable and the success of our campuses proves it can be done.”
Shaun Ruiters, Chief Executive Officer of PPS Investments, adds,“ At PPS Investments, we recognise that education is the foundation of a successful future. By supporting Calling Education,
