Last year , PPS made a significant investment in a private equity fund dedicated to building schools in South Africa . We are actively collaborating with the asset manager to explore ways to scale the impact of this initiative , further building on their existing efforts . Over the lifetime of the investment , we expect to positively impact more than 30 000 students . Encouragingly , the PPS Group has the capacity to make regular allocations to private equity managers in South Africa , driving meaningful impact while generating superior returns for the PPS Profit-Share Account™ portfolio .
The PPS Group has also committed to at least maintaining its level 3 B-BBEE score and subsidiaries like PPS Investments ( currently at level 4 B-BBEE ) plan to reach at least level 2 in the next three years . In addition , we track all our appointed South African asset managers on their transformation plans and our asset manager Sustainability Survey looks in detail at race and gender representation across key decision-makers in the asset manager . The PPS Group has also agreed to use 2023 to benchmark its carbon scope emissions . While we have not yet set carbon reduction targets , this is a necessary first step on this journey . It places us in a solid position to respond to any targets or carbon budgets set at a sectoral level following the signing of the Climate Act into law last year . An important objective for 2025 is to embed our scope emissions tracking into the monthly routines of business , rather than aggregating them at the end of the reporting period , as well as improve the quality of the data we are capturing .

In our global equity partnership , which makes up nearly 20 % of our investments , we have set a target to reduce emissions by 30 % compared to the market benchmark .
