HAVE BEEN THE BIGGEST OPPORTUNITIES IN YOUR LIFE AND WHAT DID THEY ALLOW YOU TO DO ?

rsWHAT

Childhood camping trips with friends despite my family ’ s limitations , access to the University of Cape Town ’ s world-class education thanks to my parents ’ sacrifices and a fast-track programme at my previous job igniting my passion for innovation – each a stepping stone etched in gratitude . They opened my eyes to a wealth of possibilities and fuelled my drive to create them for others .
WHAT IS YOUR LIFE PHILOSOPHY ?
I would say there are a few quotes / sayings that can best describe my philosophy . One would be , “ Be kind , for everyone that you meet is fighting a battle you know nothing about ” and the other “ Clear eyes , full hearts , can ’ t lose ”.
Personally , life is about understanding that no one is more important than anyone else . We should always be kind and courteous to one another , even in difficult circumstances and that through mutual respect we can find answers to all problem statements .
WHAT ABOUT YOUR WORK MAKES YOU WANT TO GET UP IN THE MORNING ?
It is simple , I know that I get up to empower graduate professionals live the lives they want to live and I know for us at PPS , this is ignited through the country ’ s education . So , getting up is easy , because I think about the PPSI and PPS people and I know that every day when we do what we do , we serve those that serve South Africa . That puts a smile on my face .
WHAT DO YOU NOT LIKE ABOUT YOUR JOB / CAREER ?
I have never been one for excessive meetings , although they are a necessary evil . In future , I think we need to work towards spending less time in meetings so that we can focus more on finding ways to best serve our members .
WHAT IS THE BEST ADVICE YOU WERE EVER GIVEN AND WHO GAVE IT ?
The best piece of advice I have ever received was from my mother : “ Always remain true to who you are and never forget where you came from .”
WHAT IS THE BEST BIT OF ADVICE YOU HAVE FOR SOMEONE CONSIDERING A CAREER IN THE INVESTMENTS ARENA ?
Firstly , and in line with what my mom taught me : always remain true to who you are and never forget were you come from .
Secondly , focus on understanding the investment environment in the context of people and their behaviour and make sure you study towards this as well .
Finally , know that any role is about relationships , so ensure you chat to people within the industry to get a better understanding of the industry and its people , as all roles 100 % relate back to people in the end !
