FROM THE

CEO ’ S DESK

In this milestone ( tenth ) edition of The Professional , we explore the theme of reinvention , a concept deeply resonating with both professionals and businesses in our ever-evolving world .

Reinvention manifests in various facets of our professional lives . One such avenue worth contemplating is the renewal of our physical well-being . At PPS , our primary mission revolves around securing the financial futures of our professional members , especially in the face of health and life-related uncertainties . While our services have diversified to encompass a wide array of financial solutions , from investments to short-term insurance , it is sobering to note that a significant number of claims we receive are related to health events that might have been preventable through better physical care . Our bodies serve as vessels through which we experience life , and this aspect can indeed be reinvented .
That is why we run the PPS Healthy Weigh Challenge twice a year for our members . The feedback from members who have been on this journey is truly inspirational . It is also fun and informative . I would encourage our members to participate when this challenge comes around .
The need for reinvention extends beyond the personal realm ; it is a vital principle for professional and business sustainability . Failure to adapt leaves professionals and businesses at risk of becoming outdated with skills , business models or services that no longer resonate with the evolving landscape .
This Charles Darwin wisdom rings true : “ It is not the most intellectual of the species that survives ; it is not the strongest that survives ; but the species that survives is the one that is able best to adapt and adjust to the changing environment in which it finds itself .” In The Origin of the Species , he also wrote , “ Whilst this planet has gone cycling on according to the fixed law of gravity , from so simple a beginning endless forms most beautiful and most wonderful have been , and are being , evolved .”
I understand that our readership encompasses diverse viewpoints on evolution , ranging from staunch Darwinian evolutionists to committed creationists . Nevertheless , I invite you to accompany me as we embark on a brief exploration of reinvention , commencing on page 8 , with a notable event that transpired approximately 65.5 million years ago .
May you again find this edition enjoyable , educational and valueadding . And may you enjoy a blessed festive season .
Regards ,
PPS Group Executive
