“The Picture of Dorian Gray: Eternal Themes of Morality, Beauty and False

Values through Centuries.”

Viktoria Drumova, a student of the University of Tartu in the division of foreign languages, wrote a research paper in which she describes the behaviors, life style and the physical characteristics of the main character of the book The Picture of Dorian Gray. The importance of this work is that it is related to the topic of aesthetics, morality and the power of beauty in the Victorian Era in the way it explains how a character as Dorian Gray chose to be young and handsome because of the power it gave to himself over other people. Besides, the aim of the research is to determine the triviality or importance given to beauty instead of morality in Oscar Wilde’s novel. (3)
