A New Prayer Initiative
from World Youth Day
Sister Camilla of the Community of Our Lady of Walsingham
The vigil
with Pope Francis at World Youth Day in Krakow ended with a hymn to Our Lady
of Czestochowa. It has been a tradition of the Polish people to sing this hymn at 9pm every evening,
thereby uniting all Poles in their faith and helping them sustain a culture that produced great saints
like St Faustina and St John Paul II.
This really touched several of the young people

We are urged to recite OR SING the prayer remember, to sing is to pray twice! It is hoped that there
will be a musical setting in the near future. Any ideas
would be warmly welcomed, so here is an opportunity
for Ordinariate (and other) musicians to make a real
contribution to this initiative. Please send tunes to

feast of St Thérèse of Lisieux, the saint of the Little Way.
The organisers of the initiative are intending to make a
gift to the winner of this competition, details of which
will be posted on the Facebook page as soon as possible.
It is hoped that many people from around the world
will wish to share in this prayer. As this initiative
spreads, those who pray it are invited to conclude the
main part of the prayer by asking the prayers of the
saints and martyrs of their own nation, e.g. ‘Saints and
Martyrs of Scotland pray for us’, ‘Saints and Martyrs of
Ireland, pray for us’ etc.
