The article on Anglican Patrimony by David
Murphy in last month’s Portal, caught my attention.
The Personal Ordinariate of Our Lady of
Walsingham is close to my heart. As an ex-Anglican,
now a Catholic, and a regular reader of The Portal,
the idea of bringing into the Catholic Church
some of the gems of the Anglican Communion can
only enrich the Church as a whole and individual
Catholics as well. These riches will include the
Liturgy. I therefore look forward to going to Catholic
Mass according to the Ordinariate Rite.

We hear a great deal about the liturgical, but what
about the spiritual and pastoral traditions? Surely
the Ordinariates are about more than liturgy? The
Anglican tradition of pastoral care and the Anglican
tradition of consulting the laity are as important.
These are riches too, and treasurers that if shared
will benefit the Catholic Church as a whole. But this
will only be the case if Ordinariate clergy and laity
exercise them to the full.
