THE P RTAL March 2015 UK Pages - page 18 News from the UK Groups Portsmouth Festival On Saturday 7th. February a packed church congregation assisted at the Festival celebration of the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass at Saint Agatha’s, Portsmouth: Ordinariatel Rite. The Ordinary of the Mass, with choir and orchestra, was to Haydn’s Sancti Nicolai Messe 6 setting and the Propers, with choir and organ - Anglican chant. Through the swirling clouds of incense we witnessed exactingly choreographed ceremonial and heard the word perfect, Ordinariate Liturgy ... at the elevation of the Host, we were left in no doubt. After the Last Gospel everyone joined in singing lustily, The Angelus. It was a most reverent, gratifying and uplifting celebration. We went on our way, after a splendid buffet, with the bells of St Agatha’s ringing in our ears and pealing over the seaport city. Seeing God In The City Seeing God In The City is a day of recollection for 1TA from 11am to 4pm. Their College is linked with Cansius Secondary, a Jesuit School in Zambia, so the projects they are engaged with make a huge difference. Two years ago they built a new library for the school. The Jesuits have maintained a presence for centuries throughout the world working with local communities to bring justice, peace and a new life for so many people. Their relationship with Zambia is one of partnership, particularly in the realm of education and health care. A particular focus will be on reducing the effects of smoke inhalation by introducing new technologies for cooking. Often people focus on malaria and AIDS, but persistent smoke inhalation causes nearly two million deaths in Africa every year. Support from Ordinariate members to Fr Simon in this work will be hugely appreciated. If you are a UK tax payer, please Gift Aid your donation!
