Twenty-five years
of Public Service
R
egular readers of T he P ortal will remember that in the
December 2016 edition we carried an interview with Richard Eddy.
Richard is a member of the Bristol Ordinariate Group and for the past
twenty-five years has been an elected member of Bristol City Council.
On Saturday 10th June 2017, over two hundred people joined with Richard
at the Church of St Gerard Majella in Knowle, Bristol, to celebrate a mass of
Our Lady of Walsingham to mark the occasion.
It was a splendid affair with our Ordinary, Mgr Keith Newton, the
principal Celebrant and The Revd Deacon James Patrick giving a very funny
and yet deeply
spiritual
homily.
The Choir of Christ Church, Bristol City led by
Jonathan Price FRCO, assisted with the music.
The Dean of Bristol South, Fr Michael Healy,
concelebrated the mass, as did Fr Peter Clarke the
Pastor of the local Ordinariate Group.
Richard provides an example, and an inspiration,
of Christian Public Service. It was significant that
every major Political Party was represented in the
congregation.
