Anglo-Portuguese Ensemble Concert
The
evening of November
6th, 2015 saw the 2015/2016 season
opening concert of the Anglo-Portuguese
Ensemble at the Church of Our Lady of
the Assumption and St Gregory, Warwick
Street, Central London.
The string ensemble that performed
is the result of a collaboration between
the Portuguese Embassy in the United
Kingdom, the Ordinariate at Our Lady of
the Assumption and St Gregory Church
Warwick Street and young British and
Portuguese musicians living in London.
A most enjoyable repertoire of early
works by Mendelssohn, Fragoso and
Britten were enjoyed by all in attendance and grateful
thanks are extended to the sponsors of the concert,
including the Embassy of Portugal in the United
Kingdom, Booth Wealth Management Ltd and Caixa
Geral de Depósitos, London.
The opening concert of the 2015/2016 season was
a great success and a warm invitation is extended
to all who would like to attend the next concert on
10th December, again at Our Lady of the Assumption
and St Gregory Warwick Street - starting at
19:30 with tickets costing only £10, either in advance
or on the door. The Christmas Concert will include
works by Corelli and Schoenberg and once again
promises to be a fantastic event.
The Anglo-Portuguese Ensemble and the current
season of concerts promises to be a wonderful venture
that aims to generate a culture of fellowship and
friendship and is helping to enhance and continue the
re-building of the historic links between the Church
of Our Lady of the Assumption and St Gregory in
Warwick Street and the Portuguese Embassy in
London.
