News from the Ordinariate
Eight new priests for the Ordinariate
E ight men
were ordained priest by His Grace
the Archbishop of Birmingham, the Most Revd
Bernard Longley, at Birmingham Oratory on Saturday
30th June 2018. One of the new priests, Fr Len Cox,
said after the Ordination, “When Archbishop Bernard
carried the crosier of Blessed John Henry Newman as
we processed into his magnificent Oratory, I thought,
‘It doesn’t get much better than this’....it doesn’t get
much better than following Blessed Newman into the
Catholic Church.”
Highland Outing
O rdinariate
members in the
Highlands of Scotland enjoyed a day out on
Saturday 21st July to Our Lady and Saint Bean’s
in Marydale, 45 miles east of Inverness, an area of
Scotland which maintained a strong Catholic identity
throughout the troubled times of the 18th century. As
for St Bean, he was one of St Columba’s monks who
travelled with him on his mission up the Great Glen
to Inverness and who brought the faith to this area of
the Highlands in the 6th cent. He was also the second
Abbot of Iona, chosen by St Columba himself before
his death on Iona on 9th June 597.
