emotionally or perhaps even physically .”
From the mid-1990s onwards , Fr Warren found himself more and more perplexed by , and at odds with , some of the various different theological directions in which the Anglican Church was heading , both in the Sydney Archdiocese and elsewhere around Australia .

assistant priest at various Anglican parishes , as well as supply work for priests who are ill or on leave .
“ So it ’ s been a chequered ministry in a way ,” he laughs . “ But the Lord ’ s been good to me .”
Fr Warren has also known tragedy in his personal life , with the death of one of his daughters , Christina in a car accident some years ago . June was also injured in the accident , as were Christina ’ s three sons . Warren and June now take an active role in helping their sonin-law David care for the boys .
“ Some people asked me when that happened , how do you keep your faith ?” he says . “ And I say , ‘ if I didn ’ t have my faith , I wouldn ’ t be here , either mentally ,

In particular , Fr Warren saw the ordination of women priests , and now bishops , in parts of the Anglican Church in Australia as breaking with apostolic Tradition . “ Don ’ t get me wrong , I have a tremendous regard for the ministry of women in all sorts of capacities , but sacramental ministry is , I think , according to Tradition , exclusively male .”
After some years of discernment , Fr Warren joined the movement towards the Anglican Ordinariate of the Roman Catholic Church and says Pope Benedict himself has drawn attention to “ the treasure ” that the Anglican tradition will be for the Universal Church . “ What I am hoping for is that with us coming into the Ordinariate , into full communion with the Universal Church , the Latin Church , my hope is that it will draw some former Anglicans or Anglicans who are not happy ; that also it will have an attraction to younger people , because my time is limited . I ’ m in my 79th year . But I would just love to see growth in that area .
