In the New Forest there is a group of Dominican sisters
with big hearts, warm hospitality, great good humour, and lots
of dedication and energy for evangelisation. They have a large
new chapel with wide windows that give out on to the glorious
countryside. They gather there to pray the regular Hours of the
Church’s Office, and of course for daily Mass – and as a bonus on
this particular weekday this was celebrated by an Ordinariate priest,
Fr Christopher Pearson.
He and I were there to talk and plan for
the 2012 John Paul II Walking Pilgrimage
for the New Evangelisation. This year
the Ordinariate has a special role in the
Pilgrimage, and will be making history.

pilgrims walk the whole way
The Pilgrimage begins with Mass in
the Abbey ruins at Bury St Edmunds and
finishes three days later at the Shrine at
Walsingham. The pilgrims walk the whole
way – with overnight accommodation and hot meals
provided – praying, singing, and celebrating the Faith.
Father Christopher Pearson
This year, the Mass at Bury St Edmunds - July 9th,
4.30pm - will be celebrated by Father Christopher
Pearson – and the plan is to have a great Ordinariate
crowd to be there, to pray, to celebrate, to give a great
act of public witness to the Faith.
