Letters to the Editor
From Fr Stephen Bond
Congratulations on your publication The Portal.
Fr Anthony Prescott and I enjoyed reading about so
many places and people we had met during our time
with the Additional Curates Society. It is marvellous
that you have been made so welcome by the Catholic
Church. We rejoice for you. The Ordinariate is a
dream come true.
The Ordinariate does not cover those of us who
have moved to mainland Europe but we have been
given a warm welcome in France. Here in St Nazaire
at the mouth of the River Loire we have had to adjust
to the rather 1960s DIY liturgies but the kindness of
everyone has helped us feel at home.
There is a new generation of priests coming forward
who are more traditional and it is good to see young
priests wearing clerical collars and I have been kept
busy at my old hobby of making vestments.
I hope and pray your reception will encourage more
to follow in your footsteps. God bless you.
First, will it ever be possible for The Portal to be
printed and distributed?
It is so much more satisfying to read a magazine
whilst holding the pages in one’s hand. I know we
may down-load it, print it, and read it; but somehow
it takes the gloss off – it not being delivered that way.
I expect cost is a factor?
This brings me to my second question: The Portal
being free is won derful! But, someone has to pay
for it. I notice we may donate to The Portal via your
excellent Web Site and people ought to be encouraged
to do that. But here comes the problem.
There is another Web Site called the Ordinariate-
Portal and I wonder if there is confusion between two
similar sounding names?

From Mrs Janet Warboys
Thank you for The Portal. I read it every month, and
enjoy it.
However, I wonder if anyone has given thought
to the future? How will the Ordinariate grow? Is it
envisaged that there will be a continual flow of ex-
Anglicans to keep up the numbers, or is there some
plan for the evangelisation of England through the
Ordinariate?
Maybe there ought to be a series of articles in The
Portal dealing with this subject?

From Susan Boyle
I have been most interested in The Portal since the
first edition. However, there are two questions that I
feel I must ask.
All letters will be considered for
publication unless clearly stated
otherwise.
Please include your name and
address together with a telephone
number, but only your name will
be published unless you request
otherwise.
