THE P RTAL January 2012 Page 15 Letter to the Editor From Mr David Forman Dear Sir, Something quite remarkable has happened to Anglo-Catholics in Coventry during 2011. From the ashes of the General Synod, Our Lady, Blessed John Henry Newman, the Holy Father and Fr Paul Burch have, together created a thriving and vibrant worshipping community of Catholics of a quality we could never have dreamed of in our long days of despair in the wilderness years since 1992. Welded together in one body are the Catholic faithful from no less than seven parishes within the Anglican Diocese of Coventry, The first wave of the exodus to the Catholic Church is now complete. Our many blessings include the provision of a modern church building at Canley. It is a spacious building off the Kenilworth Road, where we have a Sunday Mass at 11am, and Daily Mass during the week. Focussed now in one community in one place of worship is an Ordinariate Group remarkable for its commitment and ability. It is no longer scattered across the city and county. Our Ordinariate Group includes no less than fourteen Readers, nine Thurifers, six MCs, and five Extra-Ordinary Eucharistic Ministers, all led by Fr Paul Burch, a dynamic Parish Priest of great humility, without whose vision and determination the Group would not be what it is. Working together as one body, without all the dissenting voices we had to face before as committed Catholics in Anglican Parishes and Deaneries, is truly liberating for us all. We can at last be ourselves, free to love and worship true to the Faith in a way that only Catholics know and understand.
