Will Burton reflects
Pilgrimage to the Holy Land
From 11 to 18 November 2014, Monsignor Keith
Newton is leading the Ordinariate of Our Lady of
Walsingham on Pilgrimage to the Holy Land. The
details of the itinerary for this wonderful pilgrimage
is to be found elsewhere in this edition of The Portal.
However, readers should be aware that there are just a
few places left.

There will also be a Reception at Golden Square on
Friday 19th September 2014, and Mgr Keith Newton
will celebrate Mass at Warwick Street on Sunday 21st
September. Thus, we can make a whole weekend of
it! We are planning to have a special speaker at the
Reception on the Friday evening, and this will be
announced as soon as possible.

In the past, we have organised pilgrimages to Rome
and Assisi. These have been very successful and were
enjoyed by all who took part. We have no reason to
suppose that our trip to the Holy Land will be any

Date for your Diary 1
Do mark Saturday 6th September 2014 is your
diary or calendar. This is an important day for the
Ordinariate of Our Lady of Walsingham. It is our
Exploration Day.
More details are to come, but even as you read this,
a planning group is working away to make certain the
day is a great success. Nationally organised, but run
locally, it is hoped that the Ordinariate will gather
those who are not members, but who want to find out
about us.

Following on from the Exploration Day, is our First
Annual Festival at Westminster Cathedral Hall on
Saturday 20th September 2014. A full day of events
is planned, including an address by His Eminence
Cardinal Vincent Nichols.
The Portal was very pleased
to read Cardinal Nichols’
remarks about the plight of
the poor, and some of those on
benefits in the UK. He drew
attention to circumstances
where their treatment was, as
he said, “a disgrace”. It is, of
course, easy to criticise him for
speaking out. But the Cardinal also drew attention to
the priests in his Archdiocese who had provided him
with information from the “grass roots”.
Readers of The Portal will want to pray for those
to whom the Cardinal referred, for him, and for
the Church’s work among those who are in any way
disadvantaged.
