Free Nemours BrightStart screenings
Children ages 3 - 5 are invited to receive a
free, 10-minute Early Literacy Screening at the
Ponte Vedra Beach Branch Library, Thursday,
Oct. 8 from 10 a.m.-12:30 p.m. courtesy of
Nemours BrightStart. Registration is taken on
a first-come, first-serve basis by a Nemours
representative. Utilize this free screening to find
out where your child’s literacy strengths lie, and
what you can do to help them improve in any
other areas before they start school. The library

Life Enrichment Group
The Life Enrichment Group is a program
designed for those with memory changes who
like to stay active mentally, physically and socially while allowing caregivers and loved ones

Fall Family Festival
A fall family festival sponsored by Ponte Vedra
Business Connections and Helping Hands, Inc
will take place Friday Oct. 9 from 4-9 p.m. at
Crosswater Hall and Lawn, 245 Nocatee Center
Way, Ponte Vedra. The festival features shopping with more than 50 local product and service businesses. The first 100 guests will receive
a free discount/sample bag. There will be a
raffle with more than 40 items; Tickets are $1 or
six for $5. All proceeds from the Helping Hands
raffle go to K9 for Warriors. Dancers from The
Gift of Dance will be performing at 6:30 p.m.

musical entertainment. Demos from Paks Ponte

First Responders Appreciation 5K
The inaugural First Responders Appreciation 5K,
honoring Florida’s First Coast first responders,
is Friday, Oct. 9 at The Jacksonville Landing. The
race starts at 6:30 p.m. The registration fee for
the 5K is $25. Proceeds will benefit the Northeast Florida Chapter of the Concerns of Police
Survivors and the Jacksonville Fire Fighter
charities. All proceeds are used locally. Familyfriendly activities will take place from 4-10 p.m.

Free Beach Yoga Class
A free beach yoga class to support the
Sulzbacher 20/20 Challenge will take place Saturday, Oct. 10 at 4 p.m. at Mickler’s Beach. The
event is hosted by Horizon Wellness Coaching
at Ponte Vedra Beach and North Guana Outpost. Donations will be accepted to help the

JDRF Miracles Gala
The 15th annual JDRF North Florida Chapter
Miracles Gala is Saturday, Oct. 10 at Sawgrass
Marriott. This year’s theme is “One Night in
Paris.” The event begins at 6 p.m. and includes
cocktails, silent and live auctions, dinner and
entertainment. Proceeds benefit JDRF’s mission
to improve lives and cure Type 1 diabetes. For

The Great Candy Run
The St. Johns County Cultural Events Division
welcomes The Mountain Goats live at the
Colonial Quarter in downtown St. Augustine
on Friday, Oct. 9. Tickets are on sale now at the
St. Augustine Amphitheatre or Ponte Vedra
Concert Hall box offices or the Colonial Quarter.

The Great Candy Run, benefitting the Fetal
Health Foundation, is Saturday, Oct. 10. This
year, The Great Candy run is moving to a new
location with a start/finish at Sweet Pete’s in
Hemming Plaza in Jacksonville.
The Great Candy Run is a fun, family-friendly
event featuring a 5K, 1-mile and Tiny Tot Trot
200-yard dash with proceeds benefitting the
Fetal Health Foundation, the national nonprofit leading the way in supporting families
and medical treatment centers dealing with
intrauterine fetal syndromes.
