The Ponte Vedra High School student
section is adding color, sound and spirit
to the Friday Night Lights at each home
football game this season.
With all of the excitement, Sharks
junior running back, Hal Swan, says, “The
encouragement of the student section
impacts my performance because it really
drives me to do my best for everybody
up there.” Discussing his favorite part of
the games, Swan adds, “When we start
our jog at the 50 yard line, the student
section starts going crazy, and when you
factor in the sound of the band, there is
nothing like it. My heart starts beating out
of my chest and I can’t help but smile.”

season, the student section has united
together under various themes for each
night, including Heart for Hunter/American Pride, Black Out, and Super Heroes.
Describing her enthusiasm for the student
section, senior Mary Stephens says, “I’m
always most excited for the chants. We
scream as loud as we can to support the
boys that work so hard on the field.”
The Sharks’ student section has grown
considerably since 2008, and the contagious school pride and encouragement
has expanded to other sporting events,
such as basketball and volleyball.
Coming up? The student section will
proudly dress in their class colors (Oct.
2, PVHS vs. Westside), support breast
cancer awareness in a Pink Out (Oct.
9, PVHS vs. Bartram Trail), and end
the home season with a Black Out
(Oct.16, PVHS vs. Bishop Kenny).
