Chew Marks

Chew Marks appear on bones from mice and other forest rodents. These small animals try to get calcium and other nutrients from the skeleton.

Bones

After death the animal decomposes, leaving behind its bones. Death may occur from disease, lack of food, age, and attack by preditor. Last week, our group found a deer skull and sholder blade in nearby locations.

Rubbings

Bucks scrape against trees in the fall to leave behind their scent to claim territory and attact does.

Scat

Animal droppings are a sign of previous animal presense. Different animal species can be determind by the size, shape and color of the feces.
