STAFF LEAVERS

SARAH GREEN – 22 YEARS
Sarah is known in the Prep School as ‘ Queen Sarah ’ – she was the true leader of the school . She has a great sense of humour and fun and is always fully committed to school life . A happy memory , which many recall , is her duet with Anthony Lethebee , at Christmas , on the karaoke .
My absolute favourite memory of Sarah is when she turned up for World Book Day dressed as Cruella de Vil ( complete with a net of puppies ), a day early . She was convinced we were all having her on when we assured her that World Book Day was , in fact , the following day .... nevertheless , once she realised her error , she styled it out in her own inimitable way !!
LAURA COOK – 18 YEARS
Laura is known for her forthright approach and sense of humour – she has a teacher voice that can carry anywhere . She has organised many trips – including ones to France – which will stay in the memories of pupils for a long time to come .
I ’ ve worked with Laura for 16 years , right back to when she was Miss Thornton . My main memories are of going on the French trip with her several times . She organised them brilliantly and they were always a lot of fun ; Dave Tyrell , Cathie Dance and Ian were other key people on them in the old days . Happy memories of playing backgammon and having a glass of red wine once all the children were asleep !
CATH SWEETING – 9 YEARS
Cath has been the life and soul of the staffroom for a number of years – she is professional , creative and has a drive to improve the lives of those around her . She has a great sense of humour and a real ability to laugh at herself as well . She volunteers for everything and has been a great support to all .
I ’ ve loved working with Cath - and her competitiveness entertains me hugely - put her and Em Kendra together and they won ’ t stop till they ’ ve won or died trying . Staff netball , staff rounders , or even just board games ...... the competitive streak stands her in good stead ! We ’ ve had some fun nights out together , and she ’ s a great friend as well as a brilliant colleague .
ANGUS LEARMONTH – 3 YEARS
Though with us for only three years , Angus Learmonth ’ s influence has been significant . In his first year as a dedicated sports grad , he contributed across the Prep School , core PE , as well as significantly in the games programme for rugby and cricket . Always developing his skills , Angus ably supported the ‘ strength and conditioning ’ programme , as well as helping across the boys ’ boarding houses and delivering support to the cocurricular programme . Angus ’ s passion for his new career has been relentless and we wish him luck as he moves on to the next successful stage .
ADAM LEA – 2 YEARS
Obviously a very talented head of drama , he rightly has high expectations , inspiring his pupils and team , and delivering in spades . Even in lockdown , Adam produced some great material online and then blew us all away with ‘ Education , Education , Education ’. Adam has been a true professional , raising the profile and standard of the arts in this school . He also supported
Emma Cunningham and Treasure Island was a joy to behold .
Adam has also given his time generously to music events by supporting in the audience but also , particularly for House Music , ensuring the lighting , sound and general ambiance were in place for performances . Adam is an outstanding teacher ; if you have not seen him , you really have missed out . From stage combat to utilising music and visuals to create ambience , mood and pathos in everyday lessons – the TST has been an inspiring place .
Both last year , as a Sixth Form day tutor , and this year , in Fenwick-Smith House as a boarding tutor , he has provided excellent pastoral support . Pupils trust him with their issues and seek him out for support .
He is also a bit of a dude behind the decks as well , as resident DJ ! He will be missed , and Dubai ’ s gain is very much Pocklington ’ s loss .
DAVE GALLOWAY – 1 YEAR
We have been immensely grateful to Dave for making a comeback and supporting us in the Languages Department whilst Louise has been on maternity leave . He has been such a positive presence in the department and , I ’ m sure I can speak for all staff , it has been really lovely to see him back . And now we are sorry to see him go – again ! As well as his experience and expertise in the classroom , Dave brought back his Haribo , juggling , and his unique range of ties ... There will be another Dave shaped hole left in the department .
There are some things , however , which I am sure Dave will not miss in his second retirement when he ’ s out on the golf course ; certain tricky pupils ( mentioning no names ), the female-
