SCHOOL NEWS // OBITUARIES & REMEMBRANCE DAY

STUART HODGSON

Stuart joined the IT Department from South Hunsley School , in April 2003 . He was never afraid to tackle innovation or to confront what , to many , would seem intractable problems of gargantuan scale .
He was hands-on – Stu would roll up his sleeves and make the solution work , and his experience and expertise were fundamental to the successful roll-out of many changes during the extraordinarily busy period of the Estate Development Plan in 2005 .
In time , he came to lead the IT Department and to act as a mentor to
Rob Lonsdale , who is now the lead as Network Manager .
A frustrated airline pilot , Stu gained his private pilot ’ s licence and flew all over the local area ; it was from an aircraft piloted by Stu , that John Williamson took the photos of the campus which were used to support advertising material in the Noughties .
Forthright , knowledgeable , sociable , roguish and funny , Stuart relished resolving major problems , planning improvements , supporting new-build projects and defeating all attacks on the integrity of our systems ; all for the benefit of our pupils , their learning and their support .
Although he had been suffering from ill health , with a proper diagnosis only just afforded him , Stu passed away unexpectedly in April . He will be missed by his friends and colleagues at the Foundation .
