FAIRCOTE HOUSE

This year started like any other , welcoming old and new girls to Faircote along with a new member of staff Miss Shepherd who has been teaching in Pocklington prep school for a few years and has become a great addition to our house .
We are very proud of our Faircote girls as they had asked to do something a little different this October as a house project . We were blown away with the effort they showed in organising a trip to complete the Cancer Research UK 5kShine walk and we are very proud to say we raised the amazing sum of £ 1800.00 . This not only turned out to be a great way to get together to do something fantastic for the wider community but it also helped new staff and students get to know each other on the walk of our closest city , the beautiful York . Thank you to all the parents , staff and friends who donated to the cause , this some wouldn ’ t have been possible without your incredible support .
Alongside this challenge , the girls have continued to work hard outside their usual academic commitments by taking on a variety of challenges such as volunteering in local charity shops , taking part in DofE and CCF , the girls have also learnt how to construct flat pack furniture , knitting with Miss Dowson , completing food hygiene courses , cooking with Miss Clarke and prep support with Mr Copley and Miss Rees .
We are full of big news this year , with the girls throwing a baby shower for Mrs Chenery in September who has given birth to our newest Faircote baby girl Ariadne . We also had two weddings to celebrate with Miss Dowson marrying her partner Dean becoming Mrs Speight and Miss Clarke married her partner Michael becoming Mrs Everatt in March . Finally Miss Thackray got engaged in March to her partner Paul with a wedding taking place next year .
Along with the good , we also have to say goodbye and thank you to our fantastic boarders who leave us this year , especially to our U6 boarders Penny , Anna , Jess , Ellie , Poppy , Murky , Mariia and Tiffany who will be eagerly waiting their A level results this summer as they start there new chapters . We wish you lots of luck , remind you that we are always here for you , and can ’ t wait to see how you succeed in the future .
To the rest of the Faircote ladies , I want to thank you for a beautiful , if not short year and look forward to your return this September .
