The history department were due to take their annual pilgrimage to the battlefields and sites of the Western Front in France and Belgium over the Easter holidays .

However , with the unfolding global pandemic crisis , the trip had to be cancelled . So , the department decided that the show must go on and instead carried out a ‘ live ’ day by day virtual battlefields trip on Twitter .
