team who was struggling but still managed
to finish in 30th.
The girl’s team finished in 2nd place overall
after some superb individual performances.
Scarlett Robinson ran a very well paced
race with an incredibly strong final mile to
finish 7th, Niamh Clements who had been
leading the race early on faded slightly
after recently recovering from illness but
still managed 8th place. They were closely
followed by Izzy Rowley in 10th, Jess
Groombridge in 11th, Islay Cunliffe Lister
in 17th, Sophie Brosenitz in 25th and Ellie
Quik in 26th.
THE ANNUAL TERRINGTON
HALL CROSS COUNTRY RACE
This year the race attracted a record 15
schools fielding more than 360 runners.
Pocklington School entered a boys
and girls U13 team for the challenging
5km race.
On the day the sun was shining and
with only a light breeze it made for
excellent running conditions and gave
spectators outstanding views of the race
across the Howardian Hills. The course
however, was very muddy in places, and
our runners found the race challenging,
varied but rewarding.
Together with the Prep school teams the
average results meant Pocklington won the
overall best school at the event. A fantastic
team effort well done to all involved.
Finally a special mention goes to Henry
Rodmell who was selected to represent
Humberside at the ESAA National Cross
Country Championship competing against
the best athletes from each of the 46
regional finals in England. Unfortunately
he sustained an injury mid race and was
forced to retire but he should be proud of
his season and being select for this national
event. Well done Henry.
The boys team consisting of Arthur
Cesbron Darnaud, Eddie Groombridge,
Julian Brittendan, Stanleigh Stone and
Tom Councell made a good start but
found the course tough going at times.
Julian ran a controlled race to finish
14th our first U13 finisher followed by
Tom and Stanleigh in 20th and 21st.
A special mention should go to Luke
who stopped to assist a member of the
girl’s team who was struggling but still
managed to finish in 30th.
The girl’s team finished in 2nd place
