HOUSE ACTIVITIES//
NORTHUMBERLAND
FIRST YEAR HOUSE CAMP 2019
First Year House Camp 2019 saw us
return to sunny Bamburgh and the
Sunningdale Hotel. This year’s team of
50 pupils were joined by Miss Cheadle,
Mr Bond, Mr Hughes, Mrs Walker,
Mr Spruyt, Mr Wheeler, Mr Lambert
and Mrs Bond. Thanks to the superb
weather we were able to spend most of
our time outdoors making the most of
the beach under the back drop of the
fabulous Bamburgh Castle.
Our first full day of activities included a
boat trip around the Farne Islands where
we were able to make friends with seals,
puffins and guillemots, although the
smell around the nests was not for the
fainted hearted. We had lunch and time
to explore in Seahouses and then visited
the cinema in the afternoon to watch
Aladdin. The following day we had the
opportunity to explore Alnwick Castle
where we found time to learn to fly a
broomstick and for an ice cream. The
evening included the highly competitive
sandcastle building competition!

THE POCKLINGTONIAN
Thankfully the sun was shining for the
coasteering activity and great fun was
had by all as we jumped in and out of
the rather chilly North Sea. This was
the highlight of the week for most and
the icing on the cake was the pod of
dolphins who swam past us heading
along the coastline. Also that day, a
visit to the Grace Darling museum was
followed by another ice cream and the
Beach Olympics…. Well done to Mrs
Walker’s team this year.
After an action packed four nights away
we headed home via Foot golf and
Crazy golf at Stokesley and one final
ice cream to finish the adventure off. It
was such a great week and despite being
very tired, I am confident in saying that
everyone had a terrific time away.
