TRIPS// POLAND
POLAND
KRAKOW
During February half term a group of 6th form students
went on a three day trip to Poland. During this, we were
able to explore the city of Krakow and learn more about
its history and Jewish population. This included a walk
around the Jewish quarter and a visit to the Krakow
museum. This was very interesting and enabled us to
learn more about Jewish culture – especially by experiencing
Passover cheese, which received mixed reviews!
On the second day we took a tour to Auschwitz-Birkenau, one
of the biggest concentration camps of the Second World War.
The tour itself, though harrowing, was something that I am
glad to have done as it allowed many of us to truly appreciate
what we have and try to get to grips with something we had
only read about before.
After the tour we took a guided exploration of the main city
area of Krakow where we saw a fire breathing dragon, a castle
and a giant head.
I am very pleased to have gone on the Poland trip and feel it is
an experience I shall never forget.
